iSchoolApps will  be making some big changes to the background images in the Appearance step next week!

Q: What’s happening?

A: A couple weeks ago we changed the way the background images work. Android images used to pull from the Mobile section, which was sized according to iPhone 4/4S dimensions. They now pull from the Phone section, which is sized for iPhone 5 and 6. As of next week, we are removing the iPhone 4/4S section altogether for new apps.

Q: Why is this happening?

A: Apple is currently phasing out the iPhone 4/4S. We are following Apple’s lead.

Q: How did it work before?

A: The background image step had 3 different sections to upload images to: iPhone 4/4S, Phone, and Tablet. Now there will only be two: Phone and Tablet.

What to Expect:

  • If you are building a new app: These changes will apply. You will only see the Phone and Tablet options in the Background section.
  • If you are updating or republishing an old app: All the apps that you have designed prior to the change will keep all three image sections, even when you republish, so there will be no added work after the change takes place.
  • If you choose to enable “Use images and settings from Phone section”: Nothing will change, except that Tablet images on new apps will now pull from the Phone section rather than the iPhone 4/4S section.

iSchoolApps will keep you posted!!
